GILMOUR ACADEMY
Middle School
This 36,000 SF facility is designed to accommodate 180 Middle School students in addition to the art, photography and music programs for grades 7 through 12.
The new facility includes seven classroom spaces, a science lab with separate prep room, computer lab, commons area, divisible meeting room and administrative offices for the Middle School. A separate art classroom, studio, and computer lab, are connected to the photography classroom and darkroom facilities via a display gallery. The music component includes a separate classroom, rehearsal room, practice rooms and instrument storage spaces.
The “L” shape of the building reinforces the academic core of the campus, and the new portal is the pedestrian gateway to the north end of the campus, reminiscent of the south gateway on the Tudor House. The choice of materials and stylistic elements tie this important building to other landmark structures on campus.
