HBM has been working with the Stark County District Library for almost 20 years, having designed or renovated most of the branches in the system during that time. In 2015 we developed a Visioning Assessment of the system, exploring opportunities to incorporate new SCDL branding and service models throughout the system in response to changes in library trends and usage patterns. Set for implementation beginning in 2020, these branch improvement projects will provide, but are not limited to:

Fewer, smaller, and mobile service points
Self-checkouts and self-service holds
Added study rooms and collaboration areas
Flexible material displays and shelving configurations that encourage browsing
Enhanced technology
Children's interactive components to encourage early literacy skills
Updated finishes, lighting, and furniture
An overall updated layout that reflects usage patterns
Linking the facilities through system-wide branding
