EAST CLEVELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY

We developed a long-range plan to renovate the library with a clear, open and modern functional plan while preserving the building’s historic landmark status. This long-range plan served as an effective fund raising tool and provided a coordinated path for the work to be completed in five separate phases as resources became available.

The grand vaulted ceiling, long hidden by a suspended ceiling, was restored and relit with an energy efficient indirect system that provides uniform light below. New cabinetry and colors are in keeping with the building’s character.

Exterior masonry has been fully restored, windows replaced, and accessibility provided. The American Institute of Architects recognized this project with their award for sensitive preservation and renovation.
